Phaseolus Vulgaris

Recent medical studies have brought to light a new era of weight control in a totally natural way. Nature's most common plant is used to keep you in shape, maintain your health and helps you stay fit. Phaseolamine is derived from the extract of the northern White Kidney beans, officially called
Phaseolus Vulgaris. It inhibits the action of alpha-amylase, an enzyme used by the human body to convert starch to glucose. Phaseolamine connects to the carbohydrate molecule at the exact point when alpha-amylase normally would split to yield dextrins. As the result of this connection the complex carbohydrate is not carved to absorbable sugars and simply passes out of the organism undigested. Without Phaseolamine the carbohydrates not used by the body as an energy source, are stored as glycogen, which is converted into fat.

The studies also show that this purified white bean extract can effectively inhibit up to 95% of the intestinal amylase activity, in one word it prevents dietary starch digestion and the corresponding after-meal rise of the insulin concentration. It is also the second-best source of dietary fiber (wheat bran being the number one), and half of that is soluble fiber.

White Kidney beans are an excellent source of folate (folic acid), among adzuki beans, black-eyed peas, lentils, and pinto beans, together being the leading choices for this important B vitamin.
